Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.1) Installed from: Unlisted Binary Package OS: Linux FreeDesktop's XDG menuing standard specifies that menu hierarchies are to be defined in '.menu' XML files. Sometimes two or more of these XML files may refer to the same menu hierarchy and in that case the standard says that these definitions must be merged together. http://standards.freedesktop.org/menu-spec/latest/ar01s05.html In KDE this works fine as long as no more than two XML menu files need merging. When three or more XML menu files need merging, then some menu entries are lost (i.e. they don't appear in the resulting menu hierarchy). For instance in the attached test case (menus.tar.gz), we have three menu entries that go in the '/Test Folder/Sub Folder'. They are called 'Menu 1', 'Menu 2' and 'Menu 3', and each has its own menuX.menu file in ~/.config/menus/applications-merged. Normally the definitions of the three menuX.menu files are merged together so that all three menus appear in '/Test Folder/Sub Folder', as can be verified in Gnome 2.12. However in KDE 3.4.2 to 3.5.1 only two of the menus appear. To reproduce the problem do the following: * cd $HOME * tar xfz menus.tar.gz * vi ~/.config/menus/applications-merged/menu1.menu * change the /home/weaver paths to match your $HOME * do the same thing for menu2.menu and menu3.menu * you may want to log out+log in to make sure the displayed 'Start Menus' are up to date * open 'Test Folder/Sub Folder'. If you don't have all three menus, then there is a bug
