Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.1) Installed from: SuSE RPMs Go to Settings->Configure Kontact->Kontact. There is a drop-down box labelled "Always start with specified component". The user can select components which he has not added via the "Select components" button. This doesn't make any sense. The drop-down box should contain only those components which the user has selected for integration in Kontact. Or at the very least, those which have not been selected should be grayed out.
Still happens in KDE 3.5.5/Kontact 1.2.3 Kubuntu 6.10 (edgy)
Confirming bug still exists in KDE 4.2.2/Kontact 1.4.2 (openSUSE 11.1).
Confirming bug still exists in KDE 4.14.18 / Kontact 4.14.10.
This bug has never been confirmed for a KDE PIM version that is based on KDE Frameworks, except possibly a Technology Preview version 5.0.x. Those Framework-based versions differ significantly from the old 4.x series. Therefore, I plan to close it in around two or three months. In the meantime, it is set to WAITINGFORINFO to give reporters the opportunity to check if it is still valid. As soon as someone confirms it for a recent version (at least 5.1, ideally even more recent), I'll gladly reopen it. Please understand that we lack the manpower to triage bugs reported for versions almost two years beyond their end of life.
Confirming bug still exists in Kontact 5.5.2.
Git commit f666c9e1033e97b9df2645c675f206939f91666c by Allen Winter. Committed on 30/03/2018 at 17:36. Pushed by winterz into branch 'master'. kcmkontact.cpp - skip disabled plugins when making the "start with component" combobox. Doesn't fully fix the bug since you need to restart Kontact to see the change. M +12 -0 src/kcmkontact.cpp https://commits.kde.org/kontact/f666c9e1033e97b9df2645c675f206939f91666c
