Version: Unbekannt (using KDE 3.5.0, Kubuntu Package 4:3.5.0-0ubuntu0breezy1 breezy) Compiler: Target: i486-linux-gnu OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.12-10-386 moving and deleting bookmarks takes up to 10 seconds
How many bookmarks do you have? The fastest way to count would be to execute this command from a konsole: grep "<bookmark .kde/share/apps/konqueror/bookmarks.xml | wc -l
1838
That shouldn't be slow, is there anything special with your home directory?
Special?
Confirming: terribly slow deletion and dragging (and dropping) around bookmarks/folders. OK, dragging takes typically less than 4 seconds; deletion is much slower and _very_ annoying. I've ~2,500 bookmarks. When nearing 3,000 it does crawl so badly that it's hardly usable. Hmm, since Daniel asks, I do notice both high (ie, choked) CPU and disk I/O while dragging stuff around. Could be thrashing? (ie, much slower the first time; I've 512MB, 1.8GHz Athlon.) Nah, feels like algorithmic inefficiency (to put it nicely) to me. Special? I did move and symlink ~/.kde/share/apps/konqueror/bookmarks.xml to a different partition. Shouldn't make any difference once the file is open. Version: KDE 3.4.3, Kubuntu 5.10.
Oops, this bug seems like a duplicate of 111564: http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=111564 Please merge them.
Or a duplicate of bug 59401 (that seems to have more activity)?
Do you have the "unknown" icon on most bookmarks (due to icon="www" in the xml)? If so, I just fixed this for KDE 4.4.0.
Reply to #8: bug 59401 is about the slowness of _adding_ bookmarks from within konqueror, this is totally unrelated to the bookmark editor program.
