Version: 0.11.0 (using KDE KDE 3.5.0) Installed from: Gentoo Packages OS: Linux Not to name names, but in another open source instant messenger program I've used I was able to rearrange the group order and also sort my contacts by various criteria. The most important of which was to be able to sort my contacts by the size of their log files. That way your more frequently talked to contacts are at the top of the list. Other sorting would be fantastic as well. Presently the two sorting abilities I REALLY miss are rearranging group order and sort by log size.
Yes, after moving from GAIM to Kopete, I was happy with everything except that non-intuitive alphabetic order of my contacts in the list... before, my most important contacts were at the top, because it was sorted by log size. I would really appreciate a fix to that.

I don't know about the other sorting methods, but sorting by log size (or recent log size) would be reaaally nice. :-)
I really miss the 'sort by name' :( also sort by name online contacts and under all sort by name for offline contacts - not to be mixed

Sorting by log size is the best, most compelling feature in pidgin.

Now that importing pidgins history is added in #109942 it really would be great if this also could be added.

In trunk there are new sort possibilities (Manual/Status/Name) not by log yet, but it should be easy to add.
I'm missing sort by log size, too. This way I don't have to scroll down to see if interesting contacts are online.
BTW: Pidgin now has a new sort by log size. It weights chats in the near past more than old chats. Really nice feature.
Dear user, unfortunately Kopete is no longer maintained. Please migrate to another solution, e.g. for Jabber a possibility is Kaidan, for Matrix a candidate is NeoChat.
