Description Heinrich Wendel 2006-01-22 11:29:44 UTC
Version: 1.9.1 (using KDE 3.5.0, Kubuntu Package 4:3.5.0-0ubuntu0breezy2 )
Compiler: Target: x86_64-linux-gnu
OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.12-10-amd64-generic

In my opinion the default folder view in kmail should be changed, currently it does:

1.) sort messages by date in an order i don't understand
2.) does not automatically thread messages

i think the better defaults are:

1.) sort messages by date descending
2.) automatically thread messages
Comment 1 Heinrich Wendel 2006-01-22 11:32:08 UTC
and:

3.) the folder view should not show the count of all messages, for most people it doesn't matter at all how many messages you have, but only how many new messages you have
Comment 2 Thiago Macieira 2006-01-23 09:46:41 UTC
"To thread or not to thread" by default is an option you choose in the KMail configuration. For us geeks threading is nice, but working with other non-geeks, I've never seen anyone thread their message views.

Maybe they just didn't know...

3.) also applies for knode, akregator already has it as default that only the new messages are shown in brackets after the folder/list/feed

4.) Looping in All Folders should be activated by default

The default view has changed much in KDE 4.2. Perhaps you want to rethink your suggestions and file a new bug?
