Installed from: SuSE RPMs

Hi,
please add a "play" option to the contextmenu in the collection browser. I see "load", "append to playlist" and "queue tracks" but on "play". If I search a song and want to play it, I always have to append it to the playlist first and then play that item.

Added a "Play" option to the collectionbrowser

Hi,
I played a bit around and added a "Play" option to the collectionbrowser.
Hope I made everything right (It wasn't much to do).
Please add this option to amarok because it is very usefull when you are
browsing your collection.

I like this idea. It should happen in 2.0 if I don't forget. I'll probably call it "Append and Play"
Comment 3 Mark Kretschmann 2008-07-27 11:20:35 UTC
Actually it's already implemented in Amarok 2 :)

If you drag something from the collection, it will now automatically start playing (given that nothing else is already playing).
Comment 4 Lydia Pintscher 2008-07-27 11:36:19 UTC
This is about playing the track immediately even if something is playing.
reopening

Ok, but if this is a good idea is debatable. I don't really think it's needed.
Comment 6 Lydia Pintscher 2008-07-27 11:58:05 UTC
Personally I'd like to have it.
Cause right now I always have to add the song to the playlist, scroll to the bottom of the playlist and double click the song. Way too many steps in my opinion.

I second this opinion. Maybe a config option would be nice in the main Amarok config menu to enable it .

No doubt, this should be added. If something else is playing it should interrupt and play whatever you chose to play.

It is all about making things a pleasure to use.

Browsing your collection becomes a problem when you need to jump through hoops to get things done.

Right-click, Play song. With a configuration that allow you to choose if a double-click should play the song immediately without appending to playlist, or if it should append to playlist. Mine would be set to play immediately.

Also, I used this a lot in WinAmp together with a dynamic playlist that lists all the latest songs I have listened to. This way I could just click away in my collection and if I wanted, I could go back and see what songs I had been listeneing too this session.

A simple thing like this missing is actually annoyance enough to minimize my use of Amarok. I love the functions that are there already, but I think there are some things that needs to be added to get the feature set more complete. I hope the codebase now is in a state where it is easy for the developers to add small features like this without too much work.

By the way, this is NOT a wishlist bug--this is a serious regression, an apparent-dataloss bug, and major-broken-functionality bug.
Comment 11 Adam Porter 2011-02-08 07:01:42 UTC
Um...wrong bug...why did Bugzilla show me a different bug after commenting on another bug? Intuitive-UI-fail. :(

This wish has been granted. This report should be removed.
Comment 14 Myriam Schweingruber 2011-12-20 18:23:02 UTC
Simeon: it think you misunderstood the wish: you can not play a track from the Collection Browser without adding it to the playlist pane, but that is what this wish is about.
