Description Antonis 2006-01-14 23:47:12 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.0)
Installed from: Unspecified Linux
OS: Linux

It would be nice if konqueror (in file management mode) had a filename filter.
Typing a string in the search field would show (in the window displaying files and directories) only files and directories whose names contain the given string.

Install dirfilter from kdeaddons package.

Comment 2 Antonis 2006-01-15 18:18:53 UTC
Dirfilter filters files based on their type and NOT their name. I am talking about filtering files based on their names.

You can use wildcards in the location bar, FYI

yes but that way you can not filter directories (it works only with files).
I am talking about something like the filter field juk has for filtering music files or like windows explorer in vista.

From UI point of view this filter bar could be in the same place the search bar is, when konqueror is in web browsing mode. while typing in the filter bar files and directories not containing (in their name) the string typed are not displayed.

I agree, this would be very useful
Comment 7 David Cannings 2006-11-18 18:17:39 UTC
I too would find this useful.

It would be nice if konqueror (in file management mode) in its filename filter had the option that allow to
hide
the files and directories whose names contain the given string.
Or if you like better, have the option to not show the files that contains the given string.
A suggestion for the icon could be the same funnel redcolored with the nose towards the upside :-))
could be a good idea an advise on the background of window wich indicate that a filter is acting, for example a show filter as the actual and a hide filter like the one in this proposal.

Dolphin has "filter bar" (it can be enabled by Settings->Configure Dolphin->Startup->Show filter bar)

@ bug 279281, Dawit Alemayehu said at comment six that:
