Description Philippe ROUBACH 2006-01-14 10:31:37 UTC
Version: inconnu (using KDE 3.4.2, Mandrake Linux Cooker i586 - Cooker)
Compiler: gcc version 3.4.3 (Mandrakelinux 10.2 3.4.3-7mdk)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.11-6mdk

pb : colours differ from an OS to another OS, from a device
to another device, from a program to another program

ICC borned in 1993
CMS borned earlyer(Apple, Adobe, kodak)
It seems to be well supported by Windows
for many years monitors or printers are supplied with ICC profil

It is time for Linux to include a GLOBAL ICC compliant CMS, isn't it ?

I test for example firefox, konqueror, digikam with ICC test it's horrible

Is this something that should be implemented by KDE or the operating system? It's not clear from your report which you're suggesting
Comment 2 Philippe ROUBACH 2006-01-14 19:56:00 UTC
I am not a technician.
I am a user i want a global support but if it is a linux or a kde work or the two i cannot decide.

I want the same gui in any kde appli with the same functions.

But certainly not as the gamma support in kde. When i modify the gamma of a photo inside the image editor of digikam it modifies the gamma of the whole kde. It's an error. Only the gamma of the picture must be modified.
Comment 3 Philip Rodrigues 2006-01-15 18:49:37 UTC
I don't know anything about ICC or CMS, but if you've found a bug in digikam, please report it as a separate issue in the product "digikam". Thanks :-)

Hi,

I'm using KDE 4.3.4 and KDE still lack ICC profiles support.

For example try to use any of the this test pictures as wallpaper to see the issue.

Probably some of kde applications need separate bug report like 214856 about dolphin or 104075 about Konqueror.

Thanks

i assume pb resolved with colord or oyranos supplied now with kde 4.11 and 4.12 .

a technician can confirm this ?

From the KDE POV, I would say, the plan is to let CM abstraction go into Qt and reuse that. KDE developers still use CMS APIs without such layer, e.g. lcms. In summary, there happened something visible, but important like deeper integration is still missed.

(Disclaimer: I am the Oyranos maintainer.)

What is the state of the CMS support ?
