Description Boris Schroder 2006-01-11 19:05:57 UTC
Version: 3.5.0 (using KDE KDE 3.5.0)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages
Compiler: gcc-3.4.4 -O2 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer
OS: Linux

I have the 'Open File' dialog box and need to select multiple text files to be opened.
So I select the first file, hold down the Shift key
and select the last file.
But Kate doesn't do what I want. Instead it selects
a bunch of files AND directories that happen to be
inside the geometric rectangle defined by my selection points.

I saw this in Versions 3.3 and 3.4 and was pretty sure
people would catch this by 3.5. Nope.
Hence my bug report now.

Reassigning to kio/kfile. But maybe it should really go to k/qiconview?
Comment 2 Carsten Pfeiffer 2006-01-15 12:42:13 UTC
I'm afraid, we either have to find a way to "fix" QIconView's selection behavior or simply use a different view. QIconView's behavior is simply not what people expect.

Moving from "kio/kfile" component to "kfile" product, helps sorting out duplicates.
