Version: 0.5 (using KDE 3.5.0, Gentoo) Compiler: gcc version 3.4.4 (Gentoo 3.4.4-r1, ssp-3.4.4-1.0, pie-8.7.8) OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.15-rc6-ck1 hi! first, i'd like to say i find Kpdf wonderfull. i never liked reading on a computer screen, but kpdf makes it very doable. just full-screen it (i assigned alt-enter to this in kwin), make the page fit on with, and shift-down/up to adjust speed, then relax and read. great for my homework (i have to read lots of pdf's and i don't want to waste paper on printing). anyway, i do have a little problem: it can be very annoying to scroll. it takes time to adjust and find where you where reading, esp on boring long pieces of text (which i happen to have to read). now i've seen some patches for konqueror for smooth scrolling, and seen (open)suse apply them by default. great, for opensuse users - but it isn't there in kpdf, and surely not on my gentoo system. i'd love to see this in kpdf... of course i'd love to see it in kde 3.5.2, but if that's not possible, i'll be running KDE 4 SVN as soon as it gets nice gentoo packages (eg likely soon) so i wouldn't care if it gets in head - as long as you guys keep kpdf kind'a stable :D thanx in advance. /superstoned
well, basically you gave no description of what you want besides "smooth scrolling" that does not says much to me, could you give a more precise description?
sorry ;-) ok, when one scrolls, the page can 'jump' to the next location. OR it can move smoothly (speed up - speed down) to the new location. firefox has the option under advanced -> use smooth scrolling. you might wanna see what it does... it makes it easier to track the change, esp on a pg-up or pg-down. imho this should be default in KDE in all scrollbars...
> it can move smoothly (speed up - speed down) to the new location. Good idea. However I would like to see just sliding forward/backward, not necessarily to the given location. Plus very important to me "play/pause" for such sliding. I could assign [pause] to that and use only one key to read the whole document.
ligature does it this way, it's code might help...
KPDF is basically no more developed, so it makes sense to move this wish for its successor, Okular (that does not have this feature).
Great idea. I recently started using SmoothScroll extension for Chromium (http://chromium.exxe.ath.cx/smoothscroll/), which is able to apply smooth scrolling to the mouse wheel and the keyboard, and I really miss this feature in Okular or other KDE programs, specially when using a trackball.
this is DONE, thanks!!!
What is "done"? I don't see any option for smooth scrolling and documents don't scroll smoothly, at least not on my touchpad. I'm using KDE 4.11.2.
I think this feature is not implemented. This feature request should not be flagged as FIXED.
Sorry, I misunderstand this request. This is implemented: press next page in okular, the scroll is really smooth.
