After the application crashed I did a backtrace. Here below is what the backtrace log produced.

Without a proper backtrace we can not help with this. Please recompile with --enable-debug=full and when it crashes again, we will be happy to look at it again. Please reopen in that case or if you can explain step-by-step how we can reproduce this crash.

Start digikam from a console and look if there are any error messages relevant...
