Description monstermunch 2005-12-28 21:54:20 UTC
Version: unknown (using KDE 3.5.0 Level "a" , SUSE 10.0 UNSUPPORTED)
Compiler: Target: i586-suse-linux
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.13-15.7-default

This is a show stopping bug. I cannot write/edit documents using kate/kwrite as this bug is causing a crash every 10 minutes and causes me to lose the data from my last edit.

1. Open a (local) document with kate/kwrite.
2. Wait 1 to 5 minutes. Doing nothing and editing/saving here causes no effect.
3. A dialog appears saying that the file has been modified by another program (when it has not).
4. Click the save button.
5. kate/kwrite will crash with the following bug report:

I also had a similar crash in kpdf when it was set to watch a file for modification and it crashes with a similar trace when the file was modified. I will try to post this I can recreate it.
Comment 1 monstermunch 2005-12-28 21:56:17 UTC
A further note, I never had this problem with the first Suse KDE 3.5 release which was released on the day that KDE 3.5 final came out. All the Suse KDE 3.5 builds from the last month have had this problem for me.
Comment 2 David Faure 2005-12-28 22:13:43 UTC
Seems to be a SUSE-specific crash. See #118721.
