Version: (using KDE KDE 3.4.3) OS: Linux To reproduce do - download the proprietary linux driver from www.ati.com (fglrx_something.rpm) - alien it (rpm -> deb) - install it via dpkg -i --force-overwrite (overwrites an openGL file) - remove the fglrx package via KPackage
Can you paste the backtrace here?
no, I can not, unfortunately. I just tried to reproduce it, but the crash does not appear anymore. After the crash occured the first time I did the following: - removed the "aliened" fglrx_something.rpm via KPackage (it worked, though KPackage crashed) - installed the proprietary fglrx-drivers from Debian testing repository via KPackage To reproduce the crash I did the following: - removed the debian fglrx packages with KPackge - downloaded, aliened, uninstalled and removed the fglrx.rpm - the crash did NOT appear again If I can provide any other information please let me know.
Well, the backtrace would be a good start. If you cannot reproduce it and don't have a log of the backtrace that did happen, there isn't much that we can do. Let us know if you find more information.
