Version: 3.5 (using KDE 3.5.0 Level "a" , SUSE 10.0 UNSUPPORTED) Compiler: Target: i586-suse-linux OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.13-15.7-default In konqueror text input fields (like the one I currently are typing into) have the possibility to automatically check spelling. When I right-click I have two options: a) turn automatic tests on/off b) open checking dialog I would like a third one, to allow me to select the language. I currently need to use option b to switch language, but this seems to be a global setting, whereas I only want a local switch for this individual box. I need to switch between English and German on a regular base, so this would be very helpful (and easy to implement). Another thing related with this: If a word is marked red, it would be nice, if right-click-menu gives me the option to add this word to the dictionary (easy as well I think).
This a general problem for almost every application dealing with text for users using more than one language. I want to be able to rapidly change the language setting I'm using and this setting should not be global but per application.
This problem is still true on the KDE4 era. The main reason I'm using firefox instead of konqueror for my daily work is the ability to easily switch spell checker: I need to write on English, Spanish and Italian and doing that on konqueror is a real nuisance.
Mozilla products let you right-click and change the language used by the automatic spell check. This is something ALL KDE products should have. Yes, you can change the language for the automatic spell check in kate, but they way it's done is dumb-as-a-cow unproductive. I don't even see how it's supposed to be done in Konqueror. Take a look at how Firefox handles this, implement that in Konqueror (and the rest of KDE) please. And no, I don't want to go to some menu and then chick this and that and whatever solution. I want to be able to have three tabs open and fast select different languages for each tab (same with kate, open 3 documents, give each one a language for the spellcheck with right-click, done. would be WAY simpler). one last note: This bug is from 2005. 2005. this didn't become a good idea yesterday, this has been needed a long, long time.
Dear user, KHTML (and KJS) was a long time more or less unmaintained and got removed in KF6. Please migrate to use a QWebEngine based HTML component. We will do no further fixes or improvements to the KF5 branches of these components beside important security fixes. For security issues, please see: https://kde.org/info/security/ Sorry that we did not fix this issue during the life-time of KHTML. Greetings Christoph Cullmann
