Description Diederik van der Boor 2005-12-18 11:28:09 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.0)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs

Each time I start KNotes or login into KDE, KMail launces automatically.

This happens when:
* KNotes is in the systray/kicker
* A "IMAP Server via KMail" resource is added for the "Notes" resource type.

Sure, the reason is that the IMAP resources takes its data from KMail...
That's the design of the imap resource!

Reinhold

But that means KMail is started too when KNotes runs stand-alone. When I start KDE, KMail launces each time. This can hardly be the desired effect.. Isn't it possible to extract the data without opening KMail full-screen?

Greetings,
Diederik

Exactly.

No, since knotes talks via DCOP to a running kmail instance (at least in the
current implementation). We are thinking about changing this for KDE 4, but
the current implementation has this limitation and no proper way to work
around it.

Reinhold

Undoing automatic change to status NEW. Sorry for the noise.

I have this same issue. KDE 4.2.3 from Gentoo packages. My Desktop does this behavior, my Laptop does not. Both have kmail configured for (Google's) IMAP access. Opening knotes on my laptop does NOT open kmail. On my Desktop it does.
