Hi, (filing against kdelibs because the first error message comes from lnusertemp). I've been using for time now a separate temp dir than /tmp, by setting the TMP and TMPDIR env. variables to /tmp/$USERNAME. On a recent upgrade to 3.5.0, arts stopped initializing correctly due to mcop failing with a "can't create tmp dir" dialog, or similar. On stderr the following can be read: Error: "/home/adeodato/.kde/socket-chistera" points to "/tmp/adeodato/ksocket-adeodato" instead of "/tmp/ksocket-adeodato". Link points to "/tmp/adeodato/ksocket-adeodato" Creating link /home/adeodato/.kde/socket-chistera. Created link from "/home/adeodato/.kde/socket-chistera" to "/tmp/ksocket-adeodato" Warning: connect() failed: : No such file or directory There are already artsd objects registered, looking if they are active... Error: Can't add object reference (probably artsd is already running). If you are sure it is not already running, remove the relevant files: /tmp/ksocket-adeodato/Arts_SoundServerV2 /tmp/ksocket-adeodato/Arts_SoundServer /tmp/ksocket-adeodato/Arts_SimpleSoundServer /tmp/ksocket-adeodato/Arts_PlayObjectFactory /tmp/ksocket-adeodato/Arts_AudioManager Please let me know if there is more information I should provide. Thanks in advance,
I can not reproduce this.. are you sure you use final 1.5.0 tarballs? also, when do you export TMPDIR ? it seems there is a race between the time you set the environment variable and the first KDE/arts application gets started. which version of KDE/arts did you use before and which worked fine?
Probably a duplicate of bug #117555.
I agree.. lets move discussion over there. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 117555 ***
