Description Michael Greifeneder 2005-11-19 16:31:37 UTC
Version: 0.4 (using KDE KDE 3.5.0)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux

I have updated from KDE 3.4 to 3.5 RC1. In KDE 3.4 Mediacontrol used the default buttons from my KDE theme (like amaroK does do, they are blue). After this update all buttons in mediacontrol are black/grey. Furthermore there is no contrast between active and deactived buttons. Why are they black now. Shouldn't this be a theme and without a theme mediacontrol use global KDE theme buttons?

Well, as the icon-loading part in mediacontrol didn't change at all since KDE 3.4 (I think that part has never been touched at all, it simply works) I suspect either the default kde icon-theme has different contents now or you changed the icon-theme in use. Anyway, please make a small screenshot of mediacontrol (you probably need to make a screenshot of the panel and crop it afterwards) and attach it to this bugreport so I can check which icons mediacontrol really uses on your machine.

You are right, it's a problem with CrystalSVG theme. Small icons for arrows are grey now. I have tested this with Konquerer. I have attached a screenshot of a small and a medium size main toolbar. I guess I must report this to my distribution. I assume this theme hasn't changed.

interesting, I have never seen these icons before :)
Just looked at kdelibs/pics/crystalsvg in svn. These seem to be the new action icons and both the player_*.png and *arrow.png icons look that way.

For now I'd say you have to download a better icon-theme from kde-look.org. I like Nuvola most, it also has very nice player-buttons IMHO.

Unfortunately I don't think there's a bug-area for ugly icons so the only thing left for me is to close this bugreport. I'll see if I can find somebody who is responsible for the icon-mess in KDE 3.5

Ok, reassigning.
I think the icon shapes are ok but they really need some decent coloring, grey does not work (and is barely visible on kicker with translucency and a dark desktop background).
