Description effco 2005-11-04 21:31:49 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.4.2)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs

In KMail, I've preselected Amarok as my default player for MP3 files.

Whatever the MP3 file attached to an email, if I click on it, Amarok display it in its playlist but the file doesn't play automatically, even if I select it in the playlist and click on "Play".

The error message in Amarok is "The local file doesn't exist".

I first suspected MP3 filenames containing blanks or special character so I renamed an MP3 file to test.mp3 and created an email in KMail. I attached test.mp3 to the email and saved the email as "Draft".

Then I closed KMail, reopen it, opened the draft email and tried to play the attached test.mp3 file, with no more luck. :-/

the error log from Amarok gives :
TagLib: Could not open file /tmp/kde-fred/test.mp3_[Zru96b].mp3

The problem is that, when you start $KDEDIR/bin/amarok, it exits soon after. (because it forks) When amarok exits, KMail erases the attachment.

I don't know if this can be fixed.

Is there a special reason why Amarok exits soon after (forks) ?
