Description Dominik Karall 2005-11-02 20:09:19 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.4.92)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages

If I don't close kmail on KDE session exit, all folder settings (limit messages in the folder, keep sent messages in the folder) reseted to default one!
It's a little bit confusing, cause when you quit kmail all settings are ok on next start, if you don't quit kmail and just log out of the KDE session all of the settings are restored again to default.

Are you sure it was a normal exit, not a KMail crash?
Comment 2 Dominik Karall 2005-11-03 11:44:05 UTC
I'm sorry, you are right! I forgot that my kmail crashed on runtime once.

So could it be that kmail looses the folder settings when it crashes? Even if the settings were saved exactly before when I quit kmail correctly? Cause that was the case. I quit kmail normaly and checked the settings once, and everything was correct, so it seems, that the settings were erased after the crash.

The crash wasn't in connection with exit kmail, it was a crash when I wanted to switch from kmail to korganizer in kontact. So it wasn't a "exit crash" of kmail.

Yes, it loses the settings after a crash.

By the way, I can confirm this.

I am experiencing that too.
For me kmail only crashes sometimes on imap folders.
And then only the deails and configuration of these folders are lost.

For example, I have a folder subfolder on my imap server called kopete and one called kmail.

Then kmail crashes two times and I expect it to crash on a "per folder base".
Then all the configs of these folders are lost.

I also noticed that it seems to crash only on folders with quite an amount of mails. I think there were always more than 100 mails in it.

No, I don't think it's size related. I've being setting the custom folder icons on my folders and watching them change back to the defaults when the settings are lost. I've attached a picture of my last folder reset. All the blue folder icons are the ones that lost their settings - some of them had less than a hundred and I've seen this happen with empty folders to. This is with SVN 3.5 branch as of yesterday night.

Looks like a dup.
