Version: 1.8.1 (using KDE 3.4.1, Gentoo) Compiler: gcc version 3.3.6 (Gentoo 3.3.6, ssp-3.3.6-1.0, pie-8.7.8) OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.13-gentoo-r3 Never seen this one before - during the process of attaching a particular pdf file to a message my kmail corrupts it somehow. This is how I verified that kmail must be at fault: At first people on the other side couldn't open it, then when I sent it to myself I couldn't open it, then I couldn't open it from the message in the "Sent Items" folder (no more ISP) and finally I cannot even open it from a new message I compose, attach the file to and then save in the "Drafts" folder (no more sending). The original file's md5sum is cb6e8abbee54c1f2812007f2d40f96ff, the one that I receive(base64 or quoted-printable encoding), send or save as a draft always has 5bc5ca3d4bf843faa57bb1e7c916b667. The original file is attached to this bug report. I can send/receive/attach other pdf's on my system without any problems though. What gives? I hope you can reproduce this one...
Created attachment 13186 [details] The original file that gets corrupted upon attaching
I can reproduce this one. It made me send an important message again and again... KMail 1.8.3, KDE 3.5.1 from Debian testing. Try to open the corrupt file with Acrobat Reader, it's just a blank page (XPDF may show it nevertheless). If you ZIP it before attaching it, the file isn't altered by KMail. If you do "pdfopt [file]" before attaching, the file isn't changed by Kmail either. So there seems to be some MIME magic with special PDFs. I try to attach a small test file (*.orig) AND the corrupt result (*.fromKMAIL)
Created attachment 15067 [details] Original PDF file Like I mentioned, this is the unalterted sample file.
Created attachment 15068 [details] Corrupt result of the above test file Like I mentioned, this is the corrupt result after attaching the test file (I gave the original test file in the above attachment)
