Version: 1.5 (using KDE 3.4.2, Mandrake Linux Cooker i586 - Cooker) Compiler: Target: i586-mandriva-linux-gnu OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.12-12mdk-i686-up-4GB Put an audio cd in drive and start kscd. It gives a message about the cd drive /dev/cdrom: "cdrom read or access error (no audio disc in drive)" On the terminal, plenty of messages appear as well: /home/ndeb/kscd ALSA lib pcm.c:2090:(snd_pcm_open_noupdate) Unknown PCM /dev/dsp open failed: No such file or directory cdda: setup_soundsystem failed This problem appears when the CDROM device is configured as /dev/cdrom. When that is changed to media:/hdc it detects the audio cd as expected. This type of behavior is buggy.
In addition, the "audio backend" option always gets reset to "arts" even if it is manually changed to "alsa".
Actually, now it seems kscd has a problem detecting an audio dc in the cd drive irrespective of whether CDROM device is configured as /dev/cdrom or media:/hdc. The behavior is very erratic because it always fails to detect it the 1st time.
