The regexp string doesn't allow for that.
Just wondering: How does Japanese kanji get converted to 7bit ascii, for example?
That's why it should be an option : if it is usefull for someone, he can activate it. I encode portuguese music, and prefer not having those accentuated caracters, because they just get on the way when I'm transfering files from one machine to another. Grip just removes the non ascii char, no conversion is done. As far as I know, japanese people don't store files in kanji ...

If a new maintainer wants to step up and take care, the project is archived here: https://invent.kde.org/unmaintained/kaudiocreator You can just clone it in your private namespace on invent.kde.org and if you have started to work on it and fixed/implemented something get it reviewed and the project unarchived.
