Version: 3.4.1 (using KDE 3.4.1, Gentoo) Compiler: gcc version 3.4.3 20041125 (Gentoo 3.4.3-r1, ssp-3.4.3-0, pie-8.7.7) OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.12-ck6 OK, I run a dual monitor setup via an nVidia GFX card with a single 2560*1024 desktop. Since games don't handle Xinerama very well (it tends to place them in the middle of the two screens), I cn't run the games fullscreen and have to run games in a borderless window at 1280*1024 which I force using the window-specific settings for SDL apps. However, the panel still sits on top of the game window unless I activate the "allow other windows to cover the panel". I don't want to apply this globally, since the WM tends to place everything on top of it from that point on. I guess what I'm looking for is another option in window-specific behaviour that'll allow the specified window type to lie on top of the panel as well as all other windows.
this would be a window manager feature, not a kicker feature.
Does it help if you use window specific settings to force the window to be fullscreen instead of having a specific geometry? KWin's fullscreen placement should handle Xinerama correctly?
No, turning on the "fullscreen" option in window-specific settings exhibits the same behaviour as if I just set the geometry to 1280x1024 - the panel still sits on top of the game (and causes mouse problems - I can't move the cursor into the lower half of the screen at all).
