Description Thomas Schildknecht 2005-10-20 19:06:19 UTC
Version:           1.2 (using KDE 3.4.92 (beta2, >= 20051010), Kubuntu Package 4:3.4.92-0ubuntu2 )
Compiler:          Target: i486-linux-gnu
OS:                Linux (i686) release 2.6.12-9-386

when i manually select a link (in text format) in an html page (let's call it sourcepage) opened in akregator, and choose from the contextual menu : "open in a new tab" or "open in external browser", "sourcepage" is reopenened instead of the page pointed by the link

Can't reproduce it here. What do you mean by "text format"? Is it a "real" clickable link or just "http://www.foobar.com" as plain text?

Plain text link, if I understood correctly.
Comment 3 Thomas Schildknecht 2005-10-25 16:50:39 UTC
yes, plain text link (someone wrote a link directly on a forum for example and i select it with the mouse). In konqueror, when i select a link who begins with "http://...", i can open it directly in a new tab, from the contextual menu [Open "http://www..."].

Well, actually i've just realized that i'm a bit confused : in akregator, whatever you select in a page, you always have "open in new tab" and "open in external browser" ; in konqueror, the [open "http://..."] entry appears in the contextual menu only if the selection begin with "http". This is this behaviour that I was looking for in akregator : select a plain-text link in a page and be able to open it from the contextual menu in an external browser, or a new tab in akregator. The select-and-open is quite useful because there are often plain-text links on blog/forums...

For example, i've opened this page in akregator, via the rss feed of kde-apps:
http://kde-apps.org/content/show.php?content=29317
If i want to read the first plain-text link (http://mirror.pusling.com/), i can't select it and open it in a new tab or an external browser: i need to copy it, open my browser and paste it (even if the selection begins with "http...", i don't have any entry in the contextual menu who let me open it from here, like in konqueror)

well, finally, it appears that this is more a wish than a bug, sorry

Changed to wishlist. So this is same thing what Linkification plugin for Firefox does. And I also agree that Akregator should work this way.

This issue still persists. The question is: Is it still relevant?
