Do you have any messages from the console when you start digiKam from the command line ?

i found the problem. if i copy my files from my digicam (nikon) to an digikam-album, i dont have any write-permissions. so i cant move the fotos.

i have to do chmod -R +w photo/

after that all works fine. perhabs you could add an option where i can set the "picture create permissions"
