The message I get when I click on konqueror settings is "unable to start cookie handler service". This happens often on various combinations:

kde-3.4.1/suse 9.1/compiled from sources
kde-3.4.2/mandriva 2005LE

This causes konqueror to stop loading sites that depend on cookies and in some cases, stop loading most websites. The simple solution is to restart "kded" (as suggested in bug 78065 ).

I do have the /usr/lib/libkdeinit_kcookiejar.la file on all systems and this file is up-to-date.
