Version: 3.4.2 manually upgraded from 3.4.0 that came with suse 9.3 distribution (using KDE KDE 3.4.0) Installed from: SuSE RPMs Compiler: gcc version 3.3.5 20050117 OS: Linux At first, I was using Kwifimanager 3.4.0, and had the same problem as reported in bug ID 105672 (crash after 1 second after start). The bug reporter did not gave any backtrace, but I saved a copy. I can post it if it will be of any use. The Kwifimanager 3.4.0 started ok without PCMCIA wifi card, but crashed 1sec after plugging in the card. (I am using Im telling this becouse I think Kwifimanager has some general incompatibility/problems with Prism 2.5. After that, I upgraded to Kwifimanager version 3.4.2 and it started ok with prism 2.5 card already inserted. But, after choosing the Acoustic scanner option, kwifimanager crashes again with the following backtrace: (no debugging symbols found) Using host libthread_db library "/lib/tls/libthread_db.so.1". This bug is still present in kde 3.5 RC1 (Suse 10.0) ObjectManager: Arts::Synth_FREQUENCY - Library missing MCOP ObjectManager: can't find implementation for Arts::Synth_FREQUENCY. KCrash: Application 'kwifimanager' crashing...
A backtrace, especially with KWifiManager compiled with debugging support would be nice. I will try to research aRts to try and make it at least not crash.
I think this might be a SuSE bug. Or at least, I can't reproduce it here. I don't have the wifi headers installed but I extracted the offending sinus_wave() function and it works like a dream.
This is my backtrace. As I could not find a matching 'kdenetwork3-debuginfo' for 3.5.0 I did install 3.4.3. Hope this works for you backtracing this bug. I just received yet another bug report about this crash. All of the reporters only experience this on a SuSE 10 box. My own Gentoo box has no problem with it, so there really is strong evidence that SuSE screwed something up with their aRts installation. Closing this bug, WORKSFORME.
This is most definitely something Suse have done. But Arts is generally screwed, this may well be an arts-related bug
SuSE know about this and are dealing with it: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=152914

Sorry, it seems that you are running into the same packaging bug with FC5 that SuSE ran into before. The error happens within arts, and it should work. Maybe looking at how SuSE resolved this will help you, but that's not my business. I'll keep it at RESOLVED WORKSFORME because with vanilla sources it _does_ work.

Resolved??? Where? I am on Fedora 11, not on SUSE. How do I get the "resolved" version source rpm?
