Description Carsten Schlipf 2005-08-16 10:38:27 UTC
Version: 1.3 (using KDE 3.4.2 Level "a" , SUSE 9.2 UNSUPPORTED)
Compiler: gcc version 3.3.4 (pre 3.3.5 20040809)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.8-24.13-smp

Before I begin: 'tag' in this context does not refer to the audio file meta informations. Probably 'keyword' is a better acronym in the amarok context, but 'tag' is used by the new last.fm site and by other applications like digikam.

What would be very cool is the abbility to maintain a personal tag set like 'Slow and calm', 'Fast and loud', 'Bad mood', 'Party music' and so on. These tags may then be attached to files. E.g. when I am in bad mood and want to hear calm music I hear 'Tori Amos - Cornflake Girl'. So I attach the tags 'Slow and Calm' and 'Bad Mood' to this song. Next time when I am in Bad Mood I simply load a Smart Playlist that loads all the songs which have the tag 'Bad Mood' attached to it and soon I feel better - amaroK saved my day ;-)

After that I feel so good to have a party... OK, load all music tagged with 'Party' and there you go.

Instead of using smart playlists to load tagged music files it would be IMHO even better to have a simple filter on tags: List all tags in a new sidebar 'Tags' with checkboxes next to it, so that you can simply filter the current playlist by selected several tags. E.g. you load your 'Heavy Metal' playlist and select 'Bad Mood' and 'Slow and Calm' and get music like 'Metallica - And nothing else matters'.

And the next step would be even cooler: Synchronizing the tags with the tags from last.fm ;-)

Although my wishlist has been marked as a duplicate, it was a bit more specific.

What I also mentioned is that synchronizing your tags with last.fm would be great for keeping a backup in case of loss of profile although reverse synchronizing (that is, to synchronize FROM last.fm) should be a user-invoked funcrion.
