Description Andrew Berzins 2005-08-13 18:31:18 UTC
Version: 0.44 (using KDE 3.4.0 Level "b" , SUSE 9.3)
Compiler: gcc version 3.3.5 20050117 (prerelease) (SUSE Linux)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.11.4-20a-default

Scanner HP5300C on usb. Automatic selection and installation of driver is fine.
Preview scan works fine with 120 dpi and scan speed of 2.
After selecting "Final Scan" scan starts. but after a couple of seconds scanner emits a despairing screech, and kooka hangs. After another 20-30 seconds, system indicates that kppka is not responding, and gives me the option of killing the process.
After accepting it and returning to KDE kooka cannot be accessed. YaST indicates "no active scanner. The only solution semms to be to re-boot the system.
YaST now indicates that the scanner is active, and kooka can be accessed normally.
However, trying to scan again, the above sequence is repeated.
