Description Dan Berger 2005-08-10 07:39:06 UTC
Version: 0.19 #3025 (using KDE KDE 3.4.0)
Installed from: Compiled From Sources
Compiler: gcc 3.3.5
OS: Linux

It would be nice if users had the ability to only log activity from certain channels. For example, I run irc stats on one of the channels I'm on and therefore I only need log files from this channel.

Furthermore, it would be nice to have the option to only log private messages as well.

I agree, enabling logging actually leads to having my identify passwords in cleartext in the nickserv's log, not because "identify" that is automatic but because of the "ghost" command that needs the password.

Please correct me if there is another solutionfor this problem but I did not find one at this time.

In other words, give the user the choice as to what and when he does or does not want to log.

This functionality still does not exist in version 1.0.1 (using KDE 3.5.5), even though clients like mIRC have given the user this choice since I first started using IRC, and I end up with a lot of very large log files that I never actually look at if I happen to want to log just one private conversation but forget to untick logging afterwards.

And we still haven't received a patch from you implementing this functionality, even though clients like mIRC have given the user this choice since you first started using IRC.

We're aware of the request for this functionality. We'd like to have it ourselves. We'll implement it eventually. But there's a limited amount of time and manpower available, and many things to do, so it takes as long as it takes. I'm afraid you won't get your money back either, since you didn't pay any.

-> Please don't try to guilt people who give you free software in the future. Thanks.

Adjusting title for clarity.
