Description Carlos Laviola 2005-07-07 20:15:56 UTC
Version: 1.8.1 (using KDE KDE 3.4.1)
Installed from: Unlisted Binary Package
OS: Linux

When selecting messages that are signed by a certain user, I always get

"Error while retrieving information on the structure of a message.

The process for imap://SERVERNAME protocol died unexpectedly."

And the message isn't displayed; if I view its source, however, it shows up with

"Message was signed by sto@debian.org (Key ID: 0x6770052BB8C1FA69).
The signature is valid, but the key's validity is unknown."

Instead of the more usual

"Message was signed by Jonas Smedegaard <dr@jones.dk> (Key ID: 0xC02440B8).
The signature is valid, but the key is untrusted."

I could do some debugging, but I'd need some instructions.

I've also tried a number of other methods, such as actually importing the person's keys and installing kgpg.

Some additional info:

I'm using kde 3.4.1 packages from the following Debian repository:

deb http://pkg-kde.alioth.debian.org/kde-3.4.1/ ./

When I say that it shows up when I view source, I mean it's also displayed on the usual message view instead of just the new window with the message as plain text.

Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report.

KMail2 was released in 2011, and the entire code base went through significant changes. We are currently in the process of porting to Qt5 and KF5. It is unlikely that these bugs are still valid in KMail2.

We welcome you to try out KMail 2 with the KDE 4.14 release and give your feedback.
