Description Spiro A. 2005-07-04 19:01:41 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.4.1)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages
OS: Linux

Hi,

I had mail from Outlook and exported properly into kmail format through a perl script. All my mail was properly converted and imported into my new kmail folder. Most of my emails with attachments have also been marked with the paper clicp icon. But, there are some that although have their attachment fully working don't display the paper clicp. All this was done under kde 3.3.2
1) is there a way to automatically make all those emails with attachment show the paper clip?

2) I have to migrate PC. I have a new working gentoo with ke 3.4.1. Is there a way to import all my kmail mails through a wiz or something that would import, check for errors,..... from PC1 to PC2 or I have to copy/paste all my mail folder(s) into my new PC?

Thank you,
Spiro

This is a bug report site, not a help forum. I'm leaving your report open because of item 1: not all emails with attachment show a paper clip.

#2 isn't possible, but we have an application being developed to do that.

Hello,

I appreciate your comment. Obviously it is not a help forum, I know this. I just thought of asking question 2 just because I was here. Sorry for this.

Two questions if I may:
1) Could I learn where I could/will find info on this new application being developed and any timeframe, if any?
2) Where is the kde forum for asking questions?

As for question 1, I will wait an answer, if any, so that I can fix all those emails not showing the appropriate paper clip.

Thank you for now,
Spiro

I hope this application will do what you want: http://developer.kde.org/summerofcode/kamion.html

Can you provide such an email that doesn't show the attachment icon?

Hello Carsten,

yes, sure I can. How to provide to you this email?
Please instruct me how to extract it from kmail and how/were to post it.

Thank you,
Spiro

In reply to Additional Comment #3 :

Thank you very much for this link. I went there, but how do I obtain the application? Perhaps, I missed the download link.
Thanks,
Spiro

The application doesn't exist yet. But I have high hopes that it will be close to ready by Sep. 1st.

You can not. You can only mark attachments as obsolete. See the attachment box below.

Importing the mail from comment #13 in current KDE 4.4 trunk SVN works and shows an attachment icon.
