Hi, kpdf is quite buggy when it comes to watching pdfs. This functionality would be quite useful if kpdf didn't crash randomly... I can't reproduce it each try, but the problem always arises after some runs of pdflatex. My guess is that kpdf sees that the file has changed on disk and reloads it, but the file's not yet completely updated and the temporarily invalid pdf makes kpdf crash. There's no usable backtrace, even though the binaries aren't stripped and the debug option has been used for the compilation.
