Description Jens Herden 2005-07-03 11:13:08 UTC
Version:           3.4.89 (using KDE 3.4.89 (>= 20050615), compiled sources)
Compiler: gcc version 3.3.5 20050117 (prerelease) (SUSE Linux)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.11.4-20a-default

In my current build the Terminal Session button simply does not work.
It neither starts a session nor shows the menu to choose a type of session.
I did remove and add the button but it does not help.

it works just fine here. can you ensure you have a clean install of kicker, and then attach any konsole output from kicker to this bug report? thanks.
Comment 2 Jens Herden 2005-07-03 16:17:25 UTC
So after renaming ~/.kde/share/config/kickerrc and renaming ~/.kde/share/apps/kicker it is working fine.
Irritating is that undoing the rename works as well. So even with the old configuration it is working now.
I close the bug, it was obviously a temporary thing.

Strange things are happening. I just installed kdelibs, kdebase from SVN and started without ~/.kde, a clean fresh installation so to say.
The result is the bug is back again:
Every time I login to KDE I get a Terminal Session button that is dead. But when I kill kicker and start it manually again the button will become alive.

When the button is dead even removing from the panel and adding again does not work. I have to kill kicker.

How can I help to track this? I can not get the Konsole output from kicker when it starts during KDE login, can I?

I get this exact same behviour. Up until finding this report (while trying to file the same thing) I thought the button was completely broken, but like Jens, killing kicker and starting it manually causes it to work again. (sending restart to kicker using DCOP isn't sufficient)

As an extra piece of the puzzle, the "Terminal Sessions" entry in the K menu seems to appear and dissappear in correlation with the functioning of the Terminal Sessions panel button.

Same problem here.

The Terminal Sessions button is not working in 3.5 beta 1, until I kill -9 kicker and restart it.

The same bug in KDE 3.5 RC1 !

it was marked as a duplicate!
and i fixed it already!

!! !! !!
Comment 9 Mark 2005-11-16 21:39:56 UTC
Is there an old config or .desktop file that should be deleted for it to work? Using RC1 at work and this still requires killing and manually restarting kicker before it works.
Comment 10 Aaron J. Seigo 2005-11-16 22:04:24 UTC
that would be because i fixed the bug after rc1 was packaged!
