Version: 3.3.1 (using KDE 3.3.2, (3.1)) Compiler: gcc version 3.3.6 (Debian 1:3.3.6-5) OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.30 The following occurs when I try to get help over the HelpCenter for a program. -------------------------------------------------------------- An error occurred while loading help:/kpf/index.html: Could not start process Unable to create io-slave: klauncher said: Error loading 'kio_help'. -------------------------------------------------------------- This happens after upgrading to Debian Sarge. I had to reinstall the KDE (3.3.2) - so there is maybe something left on the system. Before I used some Marillat backports, which where deleted with the upgrade. apt-get tells me everything is fine. I looked for libxslt und libsml2. They are there with specific versions. I also installed libxml2-dev. Any suggestions.
Do you have a kio_help.la file in your system? How about kio_help.so? And help.protocol?
kio_help.la => /usr/lib/kde3/kio_help.la kio_help.so => /usr/lib/kde3/kio_help.so So these files are there. help.protocol => Sorry, how to find out? If I try to input e.g. "help:konqueror" in the command line of the browser I get the same error, as mentioned above.
It should be in /usr/lib/kde3/share/services/help.protocol
No, but I found it in: /usr/share/services/help.protocol It is "root:root with 644" like all other *.protocol files. The content is here: --------------------------- [Protocol] exec=kio_help protocol=help input=none output=filesystem reading=true defaultMimetype=text/html Icon=help Class=:local --------------------------
still a problem?
yes. but I don't use it.
Can you still confirm this bug?
It's been a while, but I'm pretty sure it was an installation issue (never seen in those years in different distributions and khelpcenter versions). Please file a new bug if it still applies.
