Description Aaron Williams 2005-06-29 22:51:25 UTC
Version: 1.1 (using KDE 3.4.1, compiled sources)
Compiler: gcc version 3.3.6
OS: SunOS (sun4u) release 5.8

I do not know if this is a bug in KMail, KAddressbook or KWallet, but in our setup we use LDAP for our address book with a blank username and a default password. I have no control over this idiotic setup (IMO). In any event, what happens is that every time KMail is opened, I am prompted multiple times for the username and password. The password is correctly filled in and the username is correctly blank. It won't work though until I click "remember password" at which point it asks for the kwallet password.

If the username is blank, it should accept this, possibly with a dialog confirming with the user that they are saving with a blank username and only a password. Once this is done it should access and use the data in kwallet normally, only prompting for the KWallet master password when needed.

Note that this is with an Exchange 2003 server. LDAP seems to have a lot of problems working with this and thus far I've had no luck getting this to work (although I can get it to work with Thunderbird).

Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report.

KMail2 was released in 2011, and the entire code base went through significant changes. We are currently in the process of porting to Qt5 and KF5. It is unlikely that these bugs are still valid in KMail2.

We welcome you to try out KMail 2 with the KDE 4.14 release and give your feedback.
