Description Gianfranco Liporace 2005-06-29 15:53:48 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.4.1)
Installed from: Unlisted Binary Package
OS: Linux

When connecting to a remote folder located on an Active Directory server a kerberos ticket should be used (my machine is configured to authenticate to an AD Domain controllore) instead of asking for a username & password.

My distribution is Ubuntu Breezy with Kde 3.4.1 and libsmbclient 3.0.14a.
Comment 1 Stephan Kulow 2005-07-12 10:57:13 UTC
possibly a samba enhancment actually
Comment 2 Gianfranco Liporace 2005-07-13 09:16:01 UTC
smbclient -k service work beutifully, and gnome-vfs too, since it uses libsmbclient for smb connections.
Comment 3 Thiago Macieira 2005-07-13 13:17:42 UTC
We use libsmbclient as well.

kerberos support in kio_smb

here is a patch that I wrote to correct the same problem, I tested it
successfully with:
- KDE 3.4.2
- libsmbclient-3.0.20-0.1
Comment 5 Gianfranco Liporace 2005-09-05 14:07:31 UTC
Works fine for me too, with ubuntu breezy kdebase 3.4.2 patched.
Comment 6 Stephan Kulow 2006-03-01 13:27:51 UTC
I think your patch is as wrong as the one currently applied: if the supplied user changes, no-one resets the kerberos context. So I rather stay with the one we have now as it's smaller. But I'd very much welcome if you could update your patch to solve that problem.

Is this fixed? I'm not being prompted with konqueror from 3.5.5.
Comment 8 mchugh19@yahoo.com 2006-10-23 21:14:22 UTC
Sorry for all the noise, but looks like it was just cached creds.
Comment 9 Hans van der Merwe 2007-01-22 13:48:11 UTC
So? will this make it to the next ver of KDE?
Comment 10 Raúl 2007-02-27 16:02:59 UTC
I also vote for this.
Comment 11 Nate Graham 2018-06-28 18:27:21 UTC
Patch no longer applies; is there anyone still around who can make this work with git master for kio-extras? (https://cgit.kde.org/kio-extras.git)? Gérald?
Comment 12 Harald Sitter 2020-02-11 14:42:33 UTC
Is this still a problem? This should be fixed since 2008 or thereabouts: https://phabricator.kde.org/R320:74e80ebc61d1945bf3ed04fd65802497aa80f490
