Description Christian Schubert 2005-06-27 23:51:57 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.3.2)
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages
OS: Linux

after uninstalling mutt kmail refused to fetch any mails from my local mailbox /var/mail/apexo
error mesasge (in status bar/line, whatever it's called in english):
"Übertragung fehlgeschlagen: /var/mail/apexo konnte nicht gesperrt werden"
(in english probably something like "couldn't fetch mails: /var/mail/apexo couldn't be locked)

after killing all processes whiched could access that file (namely: exim), and even after rebooting the error persisted. finally i found the lock file ~/.kde/share/apps/kmail/lock
-> deleted, restarted kmail -> same error

did an strace on kmail which produced something more interesting:
"sh: mutt_dotlock: command not found"

now after reinstalling mutt it's working again ... seems to be related ...
don't know whether this bug is still present in svn (since I found no related bug report)

In kmail's receiving account setup (tested with 4.3.1) you can chose which type of Locking Method you want.
You obviously set that to "Mutt dotlock", which you have to change to something which does not need mutt installed.
