Description Ferdinand Gassauer 2005-06-21 06:56:43 UTC
Version:           1.1 (using KDE 3.4.89 (>= 20050615), compiled sources)
Compiler: gcc version 3.3.5 20050117 (prerelease) (SUSE Linux)
OS:                Linux (i686) release 2.6.11.4-21.7-smp

Hi!
The attached mail (in IMAP folder) is only show if it is the "active" mail.

IMHO it should be shown regardless where the current cursor is.

sorry for not beeing precise

Kontact:
* D&D a mail(header) on the todo icon
* click to-do-list
* on the entry you just creted: RMB - Show - window pop's up (which BTW is a bit to small)
* click on show mail ( I assume that the original mail should be opened) which does not happen.

what happens if the mail is deleted meanwhile ?

hope that helps

KDE 3.5.5/Kontact 1.2.3 (Kubuntu 6.10/edgy)

I'm not really sure what the problem is?
I created a to-do by dragging and dropping an email from a mailbox onto the To-do icon. I selected the to-do, saw that the email to/from and subject were added to the description field of the to-do. There was no 'show mail' button. However, on the attachments tab there was a link to the email that started this todo. Click on the 'show' button there displayed the email regardless of where it was until the email was deleted. That is, moving the email from folder to folder (including the trash) did not appear to affect the to-do. It was not until I deleted the email from the trash that clicking the 'show' button did not have any effect.

Kmail doesn't show the mail attached to the task/appointment unless it already has fetched it from the IMAP server.

I also experience problems with the 'show mail' link. I am using Kontact 1.2.3 on KDE 3.5.5 (Gentoo).

- Drag&drop an IMAP e-mail from kmail to the todo icon
- Click OK to create the new todo
- Switch to the todo list, right click the just created todo, and select 'show'
- Click on the link 'show mail'

Kontact disappears from the screen, obviously it crashed.

I started kontact from konsole and got this output right after dragging the mail to the todo icon:

ConditionalOffset: 1.0.106, condition=0
Date is a 7
ConditionalOffset: 6.0.106, condition=0
Date is a 5
ConditionalOffset: 1.4.106, condition=0
Date is a 1
ConditionalOffset: 3.9.106, condition=0
Date is a 2
ConditionalOffset: 31.9.106, condition=0
Date is a 2
ConditionalOffset: 1.10.106, condition=0
Date is a 3
ConditionalOffset: 24.11.106, condition=0
Date is a 7
ConditionalOffset: 25.11.106, condition=0
Date is a 1
ConditionalOffset: 31.11.106, condition=0
Date is a 7
kontact: ERROR: Can't decrement change count. It already is 0.

After right-clicking the new todo, selecting 'show' and then 'show mail', kontact closes and the konsole output is:

*** KMail got signal 11 (Crashing)
KCrash: Application 'kontact' crashing...
KCrash cannot reach kdeinit, launching directly.

Still an issue in KDE 4?
Comment 8 Denis Kurz 2016-09-24 19:25:00 UTC
This bug has only been reported for versions before 4.14, which have been unsupported for at least two years now. Can anyone tell if this bug still present?

If noone confirms this bug for a Framework-based version of kontact (version 5.0 or later, as part of KDE Applications 15.08 or later), it gets closed in about three months.
Comment 9 Denis Kurz 2017-01-07 21:45:15 UTC
Just as announced in my last comment, I close this bug. If you encounter it again in a recent version (at least 5.0 aka 15.08), please open a new one unless it already exists. Thank you for all your input.
