Description Frans Leerink 2005-06-14 21:37:05 UTC
Version: 0.7.0-cvs (using KDE 3.3.0, SuSE)
Compiler: gcc version 3.3.4 (pre 3.3.5 20040809)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.8-24.14-default

I have manually added my camera model and port respectively Sony DSC-F1
and serial:/dev/ttyS0 under Settings/Configure Digikam/Cameras and saved this. Hereafter I swithed my camera Sony DSC-F1 on play, waited a few seconds and clicked the camera-icon and then clicked Sony DSC-F1 option.
I saw a few messages at the bottem of a special the last one was something like Getting thumbnails and than the Digikam KDE Crash Handler poped up saying the application Digikam crashed and caused the signal 11 (sigsegv). Unfortunately the backtrace appears to be of no value. During this bug reporting i saw in an other bug report that I could run Digikam from the console and I than should see at least some error reasons. So I have done that, resulting in the same error. The console message is as follows:
linux:~ # digikam
KIPI (general): WARNING: Unknown feature asked for in KIPI::Interface::hasFeature: AlbumEQDir
folder: /, file: PSN00001.jpg
F1fclose fail
KCrash: Application 'digikam' crashing...
digikam: Fatal IO error: client killed
linux:~ #

I have also collected the following info:
linux:~ # rpm -qa |grep -i kipi
kipi-plugins-0.0.cvs20040920-6.1
libkipi-0.0.cvs20040920-3.1
linux:~ #

Hopefully this helps

your digikam version is very old. upgrade to latest available (0.7.2) and see if you can reproduce the problem. additionally, we need a crash backtrace to see what the problem is.

Please reopen when it happens with latest available release.

Hello,

I have searched internet with Google now for a couple of days but I have still 2 problems as a newby who is trying to upgrade a part of his Suse 9.2 Professional system.

1 Where can I find an RPM for Suse 9.2 to upgrade to latest available stable (0.7.2) version of Digikam. Is there an How To on the upgrade process via RPM for Suse 9.2 Professional.(Via Yast but where do I find the missing dependency elements like libexif.so.9, libkexif.so.1 and a lot of others.

2 I can find a tar.bz2 for Digikam 0.7.2 but I can't find an How To to do the upgrade process via tar.bz2 in Suse 9.2 Professsional.

Thanks for the help / tips

Regards, Frans

http://www.novell.com/linux/download/linuks/i386/update_for_9_2/extra.html

seems to have links to digikam 0.7.3beta2 and libkexif, libkipi and kipi-plugins. i don't use suse, so i can't tell you how to use yast to upgrade the packages

For me forget about it. It is too old and I don't use Digikam any longer.
