Version: (using KDE KDE 3.4.1) Installed from: Gentoo Packages OS: Linux Hello. I have a problem. I have laptop with high resolution (1400x1050). So to see text on the screen I'm using BIG font sizes. And kde is very good with that! But if I want to pring some web page or mail, well anuthing I want from kde application, I have same BIG font on printing. It's very uncomfortable. So I need to have an ability to set font kde will use during printing. Thank you for your time, Peter.
No, you don't. A 12pt font should be 1/6th of an inch both on your monitor and on print. Your resolution is irrelevant. If your 10 or 12pt fonts are too small on the monitor and you have to set to higher font sizes in order to read properly, that means your X server's DPI setting is misconfigured. Set your DisplaySize properly. This is not an issue.
Oh. What a shame. I'm using linux more then two year, but still I don't know such simple things. :( Any way. Thank you very much.
I've reopened wish, as I think may be it's good idea to add some control to kcontrol-center? So in other words I want to have an ability to set such monitor properties (DisplaySize) in graphical mode. The best place for it will be: Peripherals->Display. What do you think about this? I found some bugs with similar problems: http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=76977 http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=58051 http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=44896 http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=58622 And about 6 others with the same problem (http://bugs.kde.org/simple_search.cgi?id=DisplaySize). So there should be done something with this. As I think many new Linux users may have this trouble. BTW. If you will add such option in kcontrol, then may be it's necessary to add something similar in dialog, uses see on the very first start of kde (sorry I don't remeber the exact name of that dialog). Thank you for your attention.
Can anybody rename this bug to correspond my new wish? Somethink like: "Add ability to set DisplaySize in control-center."
retitle on request
This wish can be safely closed after introduction scaling options(?)
it can.
