Description Peter Thomassen 2005-05-23 01:15:55 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.4.0)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages

Some KDE applications like kate offer submenus to choose the highlighting schema. These are split up into submenus like Scripts, Assembler, Database languages etc.

When opening the main menu, it is not possible to spot which schema is active without going through the submenus. Sometimes you don't know which one is active because the editor automatically has chosen one (for example, when showing a file from the web within Konqueror).

So, it would be nice to have the respective submenu marked active, as the following sketch shows:

File | Edit | ... | Extras | ...
                  +---------------------+
                  | Pipe |
                  | Read-only mode |
                  | ... |
                  +---------------------+
                  | [x] Highlighting +-----------------+
                  | ... | None |
                  +-------------------| Assembler |
                  | ... | Databases |
                  +-------------------| [x] Scripting +----------+
                                      | ... | [x] PHP |
                                      +---------------| ... |
                                                      +----------+

Kate's highlighting schema menu is now implemented differently--and much better. I think you'll like it, if you haven't seen it yet.
