Description David Harvey 2005-05-19 17:00:58 UTC
Version: 0.10 (using KDE 3.4.0, Gentoo)
Compiler: gcc version 3.3.5-20050130 (Gentoo Linux 3.3.5.20050130-r1, ssp-3.3.5.20050130-1, pie-8.7.7.1)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.8-gentoo-r3

After updating to KDE 3.4, neither kopete in KDE 3.3 or 3.4 will connect to MSN with a wrong password error, console output during connect attempt is:

QGArray::find: Index 0 out of range
kopete (msn): WARNING: [void MSNSocket::slotSocketError(int)] Error: 17

I've also seen MSN logins fail in Kopete with a "wrong password" even though the correct password was obtained from kwallet. A similar message is printed to stderr:

QGArray::find: Index 0 out of range

I also noticed MSN broke after an update to Mandrakelinux Official 10.1. I'm looking into the patches that were applied in the update to see if one of them brought on this problem.

I can confirm this bug altough it worked today before with this version, I haven't changed a thing since KDE3.4 was released.
The console output is exactly the same with me: error 17
I can connect to msn using another client but not with kopete. If there was something wrong with the msn-protocol all the clients would be affected so thats not it.
By the way, my msn-id is shanachie[at]yucom[dot]be, which is not the standard @hotmail.com or @msn.com, could have something to do with it.

I too am having trouble with the password. I'm attempting to login, and it tells me my password is wrong. Earlier in the day, and in the last 2 or 3 days I found if I actually put an incorrect password in, and then when it errored out I put in the right one, it would usually accept it. But now it won't even do that.

My system is Kopete 0.9.2 using KDE 3.3.2

Thanks!

Please see Bug 105929

The solutions are
- to install SVN http://kopete.kde.org/index.php?page=cvs
- to wait KDE 3.4.1 (planed in less than one week)
- to use another msn client
- to use jabber transport with Kopete http://wiki.kde.org/tiki-index.php?page=Kopete+Jabber+Transport
