Description Gianfranco Liporace 2005-05-11 12:49:56 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.4.0)
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages
OS: Linux

If I create a smb connection using the wizard with the follwing parameters:
Name: Example
Server: serverw2k
Folder: folder$

the URL is created correctly and able to connect. But if I enter:
Name: Example
Server: serverw2k
Folder: folder$/my_documents

the URL created miss the '$' so it returned an error when I try to connect.

Looks like an issue in knetattach...
Comment 2 George Staikos 2005-06-24 23:25:13 UTC
Looks like a KURL bug:

 * If you have the absolute path and need the URL-escaping you should create
 * KURL via the default-constructor and then call setPath(const QString&).
Comment 3 George Staikos 2005-06-25 00:31:23 UTC
Or could be a KConfig/desktop file bug since this is stored there.
Comment 4 Gianfranco Liporace 2005-11-17 11:59:14 UTC
Upgraded to KDE 3.4.3 kubuntu, the problem still there.
Today i've edited the desktop file created and to my surprise the URL field contains the '$'. So something is going wrong when the url is passed to konqueror. Adding another '$' the url is opened correctly.

Today i've done some investigation about this bug and discovered that maybe the problem have to do with "dollar expansion" in function KConfigBase::readEntry(). Not sure if this is useful for remote location... (at least for smb remote folders)
