Description barr 2005-05-01 13:28:31 UTC
Version: 1.8 (using KDE KDE 3.4.0)
Installed from: Compiled From Sources
Compiler: gcc version 3.3.5 (Gentoo Linux 3.3.5-r1, ssp-3.3.2-3, pie-8.7.7.1)
OS: Linux

Connection to POP server does not timeout when the network is very busy.

However, even when the network traffic goes back to normal, KMail does not carry on and won't perform any automatic check unless the connections are manually cancelled.

This is a problem when using automatic check as you won't get any notifications of new mail unless you go check that KMail is doing fine... wich kinda defeat the point of using automatic checks.

The check hangs at "Preparing transmission for...".
I'm using a 1 minute automatic check, would it be possible that the automatic check automatically cancel the current check instead of waiting for it to finish (wich doesn't happen)?

Note: When cancelling a hung check KMail immediatly starts the pending automatic query.

I'll second that.

My internet connection goes in and out.

If KMail starts an automatic check while my internet connection isn't working, it will try to connect once and fail, but will never timeout. It just sits there waiting to hear back from the original request, but it never will.

When my internet connection comes back, kmail is still waiting on the original request, and won't do any more automatic mail checks until I manually cancel the old ones.

Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report.

KMail2 was released in 2011, and the entire code base went through significant changes. We are currently in the process of porting to Qt5 and KF5. It is unlikely that these bugs are still valid in KMail2.

We welcome you to try out KMail 2 with the KDE 4.14 release and give your feedback.
