Version: (using KDE KDE 3.4.0) Installed from: SuSE RPMs In kmail are import options for Thunderbird, Evolution, Opera - but one programme is missing: kmail. When you want to change your system (other distribution, new hardware) you have to search for the configuration files for every kde-application and copy them in the new .kde-Folder. The necessary files are in diefferent directories and you cannot always guess this by the name of the folders. You also can not copy the whole menu because issues with kde-menu and kde-components. My idea to solve this problem with a archive: you select which data has to be saved (save Mail folder, save filter options, throw away temporary files and the cache, but keep the list of newsgroups) and an assistant packs all files with the correct folder structure in an tar archive. Additional information about the used versions are appropriate. On the new system you can import the data in whole or for every application. The import filter only has to look for the data in the tar archive and put them in the right places.
You can currently import all mails from KMail from a Folder with the CVS version (for next KDE 3.5). See bug #101622. The other part is reported by you in #82391, I set this as dublicated. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 101622 ***
