Version: 1.8.50 (using KDE 3.4.89 (CVS >= 20050314), compiled sources) Compiler: gcc version 3.3.3 (SuSE Linux) OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.11-ck2 I think it would be handy if you could right click on a message that was replied to (which has the icon to signify) and go to the message you replied with. It might be best to have it under the Reply menu, at the bottom of the 4 reply types (Reply, Reply to Author..., etc), with a line separate and put View Reply, or something like that. Its not too hard to go find the reply message in your sent items, but this could help (if more than 1 reply to message or part of a conversation, make have it say View Replies, and then show those message, possibly by just using the search feature of kmail to 'truncate' the mails in your sent items to just those that were replies to the received message).
Does the "keep replies in the same folder" option in the folder properties dialog help any with this, for your usage pattern?
I've seen that option, but to be honest I do like to keep my sent vs received separate... or at least have the option to separate them down the road. Since I've not used it yet.. how does it handle messages which do are not replied to.. do they go in your inbox.. or only reside in the sent items folder?

You can always (quick )search on the sent status and move the mails away at a later time. > Since I've not used it yet.. how does it handle messages which do are not > replied to.. do they go in your inbox.. or only reside in the sent items > folder? You mean mails you send which are not replies? Those go into the sent folder of the used identity, as normal, or if you don't have those configured, to the system sent folder.
Still, I, too, would think it would be great to right-click a mail in my inbox (kmail seems to know if I have replied to it) to find all related messages. (forwarded, replied, whatever one can also put in a threaded view) Such a feature would really make a positive difference to kmail-usability. It can help users quickly find anwers to questions like: "To who did I forward this message?" or "What was the exact wording of the reply to this important message in my inbox that I replied about two years ago?". (I find myself faced with the second type of question quite often.)
