Some dialogs in Kopete, like the one for Changing Display Name (at least with the msn protocol, didn't look if it's the same for all of them) take the focus and prevent you from interacting with kopete before you close it. For example, when I receive a new message from a buddy, I cannot read it until I have finished typing my new display name. You cannot use the main window too. This is very annoying, and making it unobstrusive would result in a better usability.
