Description Sebastian Ley 2005-04-07 13:17:13 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.4.0)
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages

I have a large amount of contacts, so I definitly need to hide offline contacts. It would be great if I could use the Quicksearch to search in the hidden offline contacts as well. Don't know how difficult this is to implement, but it would save some clicks.

IIRC the original ICQ client behaved similarily (just type some charcters and it searched _all_ contacts for the sequence).

This seems like a good idea to me. Perhaps all contacts that match should be forced visible, even if you are hiding offline users?
Comment 2 benjamin weber 2005-09-03 19:57:49 UTC
Personally I prefer the behaviour as it is now, it seems more logical to filter what is visible, like every other quickfilter in KDE. Also current behaviour provides a slightly quicker way to check if the contact you're looking for is online or not.

I'd also agree that it would be useful if Kopete could check the offline contacts as well and display them when matched no mater is they were hidden or not. This behavior could be configurable to satisfy users like Benjamin, who might dislike it for some reasons (however I think you can still easily disguise offline contacts from other by looking at their icon.

Maybe benjamin was just irritated by Ian's suggestion to force offline users to be visible during a search. This shouldn't affect the icon of course. So I hope there is no need for another configuration option.

Really, this can be a good feature.
Comment 8 m.wege 2008-10-06 19:14:18 UTC
I agree, I would also like to have this feature. It is very usefull, if you have a long contact list and you have turned offline-contacts off. It works like this in Skype and I is very helpfull. For all the fans off the old behaviour it could be made configurable.

Oh, I miss this so much! :)
Is anyone already on it?
Maybe one day i'll try to add this feature myself...
