Description Jakob Petsovits 2005-03-31 13:34:03 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.4.0)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages
Compiler: gcc-3.4.1 gentoo version, including visibility patches
OS: Linux

Whenever the weather component in Kontact's summary view is activated and isn't able to connect to the weather server, it displays a passive popup saying that it could not connect. I'm not always online when running Kontact, and as the weather component regularly checks for an update, this is going on my nerves. That's why I disabled the weather component, although it would be useful when online.

I think it would be better if these "could not connect" messages are displayed directly in the summary view and without explicit notification, because then they are only seen when the user wants to see them.

I think this is KWeather problem... It doesn't seem to use KNotify and this behaviour isn't configurable either. IMHO KWeather shouldn't display these errors, message in weather report about no network is enough and doesn't annoy people when they're for example playing or watching movie when network is down.
